To win in Santa’s Toy Box, you want to have the most points at the end of the game.

Players will have a Tableau (board area), which they will lay down point cards they acquire when drafting. After point cards are laid down, the turn order is decided, and then event cards will be played. After all events are played, point scoring of a player’s tableau occurs. In the following phase comes the Elf Charity Toy Race, which also determines if a player is Naughty Of Nice. Players will donate toys to rush their elves up the track towards the goal for big points, and show how nice they are by doing so, which those who are Naughty get penalties. Lastly, comes the final phase which is the Coal Track, where players get rid of coal for large points. After round 3, end game scoring occurs.

Rounds go as follows:

  1. Draft cards (Point cards and Event cards).
  2. Lay point cards down to build their tableau
  3. Resolve turn order
  4. Play event cards and tokens
  5. Score your tableau
  6. The Elf Charity Toy Race Phase / Naughty Or Nice Track
  7. The Coal Track Phase

In Santa’s Toy Box, you can get points from pretty much everywhere!

CARDS
The main way players score points is by laying Point cards down on on their tableau. Tableaus are scored over 3 rounds in each section, where old cards will score points if they reside on your tableau. The more toys of the same kind you stack, the higher the points you can acquire.

OBJECTIVE CARDS
There are 2 types of point scoring of objective cards, Secret Objectives and Public Objectives. Secret Objectives are Objective cards that players get and keep that no other player can get points from. Public objectives are Objective cards that all players have the chance to get points from.

TURN ORDER
In rounds 2 and 3, players will chose a turn order. The player will receive benefits, which some spots will also give points. Others give tokens and other cool benefits. Be crafty!

ELF CHARITY TOY RACE
The Elf Charity Toy Race is a great way to get points, but depletes your tableau of toys. If you donate toys, you can rush up the race track, which depending on the certain pathways you chose, you score big points. Also you can lay down Point Traps, that other players can land on and give you points. It’s every elf for themselves, and if your reach the end, you get big points as well. May the best elf win!

COAL TRACK
Players get rid of Coal to move their Train up the Coal Track. The more you move your choo-choo, the higher the score!

END GAME POINTS
At the end of the game, players will score up points from their cards on their tableau, as well as other special scoring. Points are awarded for most colors of a card border, longest stack, most array of cards, Ice Forts, and more. A plethora of wonderous points!
